I didn't realize how amazing that is until yesterday when I had a dinner with my host family.

I had a good time to eat Mexican food, and I would say that was the best ever, but Linda, my host family, said that she called it Taxes-Mexican because it is more like Taxesian flavor. I think that is what happen to Chinese take-out restaurant here in America that they became American-Chinese food in order to have more business with American; otherwise, in a place like Norman that there are not so many Asian people, how are they going to survive. Yet, somehow the change decrease the level of texture in the Chinese food because all they have is just soy sause and suger, and they will call it: This is Chinese Food, but I would usually say that until you eat the real Chinese, you will see if you are a true Chinese-food lover.

Anyway, that is far from the topic I would like to say. After dinner, we started to chat a bit from topic to topic. Then, we were back to the old topic as an international student: language. We started to say that there are many language in China, and Taiwanese has at least 3 languages that are still alive: Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Haka. However, for Taiwanese and Haka, there are no writing system for the sound we say. Then, the other Chinese girl said there are at least 150 different languages in China, but Mandarin is the official language. In nowadays, government starts to realize how important to have variety of languages around, so we start putting mother tongue language to our education. Here, Linda and Tollie said that it happens in Oklahoma too that they are going to save all the native Indian tribes language since some research said that some Indian language is gone from the earth forever. This can be said the Whites occupied the red land, and nowadays the business, education, and society are solely based on English. It makes no way to use their native language anymore.

Okay, here is the amazing part that I found out about language and human. There are many languages in the world that people are speaking them daily. In every language, they have a different tone, word, and pronuciation to call an object. For example, apple is the word in English, 蘋果 is the word in Chinese, 捧購 is the sound in Taiwanese. Is it fun to see how human ctreated a system for their own to name an object? There are more and more in rest of the world that they are using different word and sound to say apple. Put the cultural influence aside and look at each language, now you will have the same astonishment as I am when you see the languages. Each isolated human group around the world, in order to communicate, they developed their own language that they can talk in common. Looking at them, each language is so different in the way they speak, writing, and the grammar. How can people do it to create a language so different from others and have nothing in common? Especially when you look at the language in China, some minorities, they are just a monutain away from each other, but they can develop a language that is different in intonation and accent and use the same creatation to name all the objects and other daily bases word and they are not similar to each other. Now, I was so proud of human that they can achivev this far. Is it amazing?

So, this entry is getting tedious and no where to go anymore, and I will just call it a day here then!
