I guess it's not quite long ago for the year of 2007, yet 1997 is really far away.
Yesterday, I went on Netflix to watch a online movie. I saw the year, 1997, when the movie was made, I thought it wasn't that far away. After watching it, I realized how wrong I was because the style of how people dress, how streets looks like, and how stores look like are very old fashion. I hope you know what I mean. It's like they have a heavier make up and weird dressing and hair style. However, that was the years I have been through; otherwise, I won't be here writting this. Anyway, my point is until yesterday when I saw the film, I found out that 1997 is really far away. I guess it's me, myself, that I am still living and together travel with the times when it goes away so that I didn't recognize the world is changing. Or, in another word that I am growing and changing together with the world so that once I saw how people dress in 10 years ago, I was shocked.
So, what happened to me in 1997 then?
1997, I was in my third year of junior high school. Okay, this explains how far 1997 was and how unfashinable I was. Yes, third year of junior, we still has the dress and hair code. Also, in that year, our main target was to get into a good senior high school. Thus, all I know was the news at that time and knowledge from all the texts. Other than that, I guess I didn't really pay attention. Talks about 1997 and high school stuff, I can see that is really long time ago. I guess I was misleading by the end of the century thing because sounds to me, that was just few years ago. Or, I should say, among the years after 2000, everything took off rapidly. In this case, things changed faster than its supposed to be.
Now, I remember when the first time I wore clothes other than bought in traditonal market. That was the year of 2000 when I first wore one famous brand clothes: hang-ten. I guess it does surprise you a lot. You would say: are you kidding me? Hnag-Ten isn't good enough to be a famous brand. Okay, I know that. But, think about this, for a 17 years old county boy and in the year of 2000 when the computer just took off to fly into everyone's home, what you expected a young man to wear? So, for me at that time, Hang-Ten did look luxury enough for me. And I swear to God, on that day when I had Hang-ten on my body, I really looked different! I almost felt in love with myself, haha~
So, I guess within the past 10 years and came to study in USA does change me a lot. Although 1997 still sounds close to me, it's really a decade away. Think about this, in 1997, I was only 14 years old!! Now, I see how far that is, haha~
